Cadet Flight Indoctrination Program (CFIP)

Stinsons Flight pioneered the Order of Daedalians Cadet Flight Indoctrination Program (CFIP).  Since 2000, we have selected and trained over 25 promising high school juniors and seniors for a solo flight.  This training occurs annually in the early summer.  The selectees attend an abbreviated FAA ground school and receive sufficient dual instruction from FAA certified flight instructors to be cleared for a solo flight in a Cessna 172 at Stinson Field, performing three full stop landing in the traffic pattern.  The candidate must be at least 16 years old by 1 June. Interested students should apply directly to Stinsons Flight.

Our objective is to further the interest of young people in aviation and perhaps motivate them to serve their country as military pilots.  We currently have CFIP graduates at the Air Force Academy and in AFROTC.  A 2003 graduate of CFIP will be commissioned in 2007 and begin UPT shortly thereafter. Click here for more information.

Scholarships

Stinsons Flight offers a number of scholarships funded by the Flight, in cooperation with the Daedalian Foundation.  The goal of the scholarship program is to encourage and assist young people who are striving to attain a military commission and a military pilot rating.  Typically, the winner of a Stinsons scholarship is in college, in ROTC, and holds a 3.0+ GPA, with no physical limitations that would impede their strong desire to fly with the military---at least for a initial tour of duty.

Awards to Military Aviators

The Flight gives two awards annually to local military aviators.

1. Eubank Award:  The award is named in honor of Major General Eugene L. Eubank, who was Daedalian Founder Member No. 37.  He epitomizes the early military flyers of the World War I time period.  This award is presented annually to the top instructor pilot in the 12th Flying Training Wing.

2. Crane Award:  The award is named for Col Carl J. Crane, who was one of the founding members of Stinsons Flight and the first Flight Captain in 1964. This award is presented annually to the top instructor pilot trainee in the 12th Flying Training Wing.
